Newent Scout Group
1st Newent is a thriving Group with its own Headquarters close to the centre of the Town. Officially the Group’s formation is registered as being 1957, but it’s known that our existence can be traced back to the 1920s. In 1928 1st Newent joined the newly formed Scout Association as a member of Gloucester District.
The doors closed at the outbreak of war in 1939 and all records relating to the detailed history of the Group were unfortunately lost in a fire in the 1950s. In 1976 we joined the Forest of Dean District and today 1st Newent is a flourishing Scout Group with active sections at all levels. Equally dedicated and committed Executive Committee members, parents and helpers support dedicated and committed leaders. The result is a genuine family atmosphere that provides young people with fantastic opportunities in a caring and supportive environment.
